We are all restless. We have concerns, desires, and unmet needs. There is an uneasiness about our futures. No matter our age, there is a strong desire to be comforted and reassured. Crazy as it seems that comfort is available right now. It is available in a Godly Father who calls us his children. He says He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Are we looking in the right places for our God, the comforter? If we BELIEVE what He says we will RECEIVE what he promises. First you must listen to what you think! Do your thoughts line up with God’s promises?
God promises to hold us when we are afraid. “Do not fear for I AM with you; do not look anxiously about, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will hold you in my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 Our God promises to Be with us, to Hold us, and Help us during times of stress. Our part is to BELIEVE !But how?
Claim his promises. The shortest prayer is quietly saying Jesus’ name.Peace will come. He is there! He is listening! Read his Word.God’s promises are all over the pages of the Bible.
You may wonder if our God is so good why do bad things happen. Our God is a loving God who wants us to choose him freely. When people have free will, some people will get hurt. And hurt people hurt people. God never promised that we won’t have hardships yet has promised that He will always be near as we struggle.
2 Cor. 1:3-5 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” God can use tragedy but He does not cause it. He uses it for good.
“Where sin increases, grace abounds all the more.” Romans 5:20 If we stand back and look, we will witness kindness, compassion, and charity during times of trial like disasters such as the Covid 19 pandemic, floods and hurricane reliefs. God’s children are doing God’s work. We don’t earn God’s mercy, we don’t deserve it; we receive it by faith.
As Michael Gaitley explains in his Divine Mercy Explains pamphlet,”Mercy is love’s second name. Divine mercy is when God’s love meets us and helps us in the midst of suffering .”
